Editorial : Much Ado about
Nothing
When Benedick and Beatrice, Claudio
and Hero won the hearts of scores of
people in the late 16th
century, the man behind their
creation could not have imagined how
wildly successful it would become in
the centuries to come and how
timeless the tale would be –
transcending generations and
geographies.
A large chunk of humor in our movies
is either fully or partly inspired
by this ageless classic. The author
would welcome that, I believe, if he
were alive today. However what he
would not have foreseen and probably
would not like to believe is the
fact that, of late – the work seems
to inspire the way people go about
their lives in the real life.
Oh! What have you done to the world
Mr. Shakespeare? Why did you unleash
hell on the world by producing the
gem – Much Ado about Nothing?
(Henceforth – referred to as MAAN)
Keeping aside the movies for a
moment – let us sit back, take a
deep breath and look at the way how
MAAN is driving the media these
days. The two principles of
journalism in the internet world
seem to be the following:

maketh a mountain – the more
controversial it is, the better –
out of a molehill – the smaller it
is, the better.

<!--[endif]-->Thou shalt
elevate the ado as much as possible
and ensure that people finally think
that there is really “something” in
that “nothing” thou art writing
about.
Recently we have been a victim of
this yellow journalism. “Nothing”
has recently attained a state of
being almost “Everything” – picked
up by all and sundry as some sort of
a “Breaking News”. We did have a
nice laugh about it. However, since
some people have taken the distorted
view propagated by the media
seriously, we are compelled to
provide a clarification. Trust us!
We did not want to put this up – for
it would lend seriousness to all the
cacophony going on in the media
driven by vested interests – in the
name of journalism. It looks like we
do not have a choice.
Cherryfans we are – and Cherryfans
we remain – till death do us part.
Yes, some of us had started taking
Ram Charan seriously only because
his father was our God – Chiranjeevi.
However, with scintillating
performances in Chirutha and
Magadheera – Cherry has cemented his
place in our hearts. Lineage can
only take the horse to the water. It
cannot make it drink it. If Cherry
did not have the talent, people
would have rejected him. In some
ways his task was more difficult
than any normal newcomer to the
industry. The shoes he was filling
were gargantuan.
Megastar Chiranjeevi’s political
aspirations and political life has
no effect on our feelings towards
Cherry. Attributing a mere technical
glitch and a simple oversight from
the site admins – to PRP’s
performance in the last elections is
– to put it mildly – silly. Well, to
be fair - we do agree that it may
have had some negligible effect as
we truly believe in the concept of
Chaos theory and Butterfly Effect –
(A butterfly cannot flap its
wings without disturbing each and
every object in the Universe.)
From that point of view, probably
there was an impact – but Cherry’s
charisma dwarfs that impact
completely.
What a preposterous case of MAAN it
is – to suggest that Cherryfans.com
has been shut down because of the
verdict of the people of Andhra
Pradesh in a completely different
aspect altogether! A person concocts
some vague theory out of thin air –
a website publishes it as it were
true – a TV channel takes the bait –
and before we knew it, a whole
pulp-fiction blockbuster is
propagating on the internet with all
the necessary bells and whistles and
truth has taken a complete backseat.
It was a mere oversight on our part
– that we did not realize that while
starting the website we forgot to
select the “Auto-Renew” option.
Also, Cherryfans is not a dedicated
team of professionals and
“journalists” working for it 24 by
7. So the updates to the site have
not been frequent in the recent past
because - we are ordinary people
like you and have our day jobs to
take care of.
Cherryfans is a result of our
love towards Cherry – and NOT of any
obligation that is enforced upon us.
For most Mega Fans, the
allegiance is till the last breath
of their life.
We will update Cherryfans website
soon and promise to keep it
up-to-date. We are truly sorry for
the inconvenience and apologize to
all the Cherry and Chiru fans out
there for the ado that pretty much
amounts to “nothing”.

grave wrote yet another apt book –
A Comedy of Errors. Yo Media!

Fine print: Normally unnecessary
but just to pacify a few of you, who
would invariably point out that the
identity of William Shakespeare is a
mystery and that “he” might even
have been a group of people and not
just one person, here’s some advice:
Take a chill pill. In fact, that
advice applies to all of us –
Cherryfans and Anti fans included!
