The man behind the actor

Once the
pack-up is announced, I head home. Neither do I party nor have a huge
circle of friends.
ACTOR WISE Pawan Kalyan never
ceases to surprise his audience
The oldest adage in the business:
The bigger the star, the shorter the introduction. Pawan Kalyans half an
hour patter makes you laugh, think, shake your head, shrug your shoulders,
and edge forward as he takes you into a surreal world. What do you want me
to talk about, Films, Nah, not unless it is something out of
the world. So he begins and as the barrage of information flows...
farming, ecological bio diversity, mind mapping and more.... it reveals
quite a bit about his personality.
For Pawan, cinema
is not just a tool of entertainment and information, but also a platform
for soul searching. When he is not acting, he zooms off to Shankarpally
where he is bought some land and retreats for days together amidst exotic
birds, rabbits and snakes for company. He says, I planted a lot of
saplings but this Bangaram schedule has distracted me a bit. Since
the plants were drying up, I made arrangements for rainwater harvesting.
To save the plants, I collected plastic bottles, made a tiny hole in each
one of them to that we could do drip irrigation. I strongly advocate water
conservation. Can you imagine Indias future without plants and animals?
Today, sparrows have become scarce thanks to pesticides. Soon, the door
creaks and the actor is summoned for a shot.
The next day, while
you gather pieces of conversation from we had left, Pawan has finished
learning his dialogues. He quotes Aristotle who said that we, humans, are
different from animals because we can talk about justice and injustice,
whereas animals know only pain and joy. He narrates an interesting
incident: When I was shooting for Johnny, I was squatting,
involved in a confabulation, a small monkey came, perched itself on my
lap, hugged me for a while and left. I can not recall the feeling.
For someone who has
several hits and flops to his credit, it is only natural to explore
something new. And Pawan is happy doing what he likes. He quips, Once the
pack-up is announced, I head home. Neither do I party nor have a huge
circle of friends.
Writers and film
critics treated him, at best, with kind indulgence; and, at worst, with
unremitting hostility. So has Pawan made amends with the media His
reaction is tiring. There are moments of sheer epiphany when he says an
idle mans brain is a devil's workshop. He adds, If you are not sleeping
you must do something constructive.
Meanwhile, the
stage is set for another classy act. While a song reverberates on the
sets, Pawan talks about music. He loves Carnatic music, takes violin
classes, and says, Music helps me lose track of time.
Life is a song for
Pawan Kalyan. He is disturbed at the sight of a woman carrying a small
girl in her arms, who is crying for help and immediate medical attention.
He rushes them to a hospital and then calls his wife, Renu, and instructs
her to attend on them. His acts of kindness have never been documented,
but that's fine. He never wanted it
